The year 8 boys rugby team capped a fantastic season by being crowned Reading Schools League Conference Champions at Reading Abbey today.

The boys finished their league campaign in second place and faced Oakbank in their semi-final. Despite both schools missing a few key players it was our boys that adapted the best and ran out comfortable winners by a scoreline of 30-0. This meant that the boys had to play Icknield in the final who beat Prospect in their semi-final. Icknield were undefeated and the only team that the boys had lost to in the league campaign.

Despite Icknield having the majority of the ball and the territory they couldn’t get past our stern defence and with 2 minutes to go Jack  picked the ball up from a ruck and set off on a run, which led him to score the only try of the game. The boys still had to withstand Icknield's onslaught but their tackling was absolutely superb throughout the entire game and they held on for a memorable win.

Well done boys on a fantastic achievement.
