This year the Bulmershe School held another successful World Book Day Event. In the build up to Thursday 7th March, several competitions were taking place. Tutors had the task of decorating their door’s in the theme of a book, and, as you can see, the results were fabulous! First Prize was awarded to Miss Hurst’s group for their ‘The Time Machine’ inspired door in T4. Well done!

Staff across the school out-did themselves with fancy dress, with Tigger, Pooh, Azlan, Inspector Goole, The Mad Hatter and Where’s Wally all adding to the vibrancy of the day.

The book sale was great, with many students buying bundles of books at a time! It’s excellent to see how enthusiastic students at this school can be about reading.

A special thank you to those who decorated literary cakes. We were amazed at the standard! First Prize was awarded to Tilla for her Potter-inspired cake, with runner up Marni impressing all with her novel-themed cupcakes.

Our short story competition winner this year was Barnaby with his excellent creation of the Bear’s revenge on Goldilocks! Again the standard of some of the entries was fantastic so a big thank you to all.

Safia was the winner of the ‘Extreme Reading’ photograph competition, with her super composition of herself expertly super-imposed in a Potter scene!

Overall the school raised more than £140. This will be split between two charities that provide books where they are sorely needed: Readathon and Book Aid.
