Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you all managed to have a restful weekend after a busy week of juggling your work and home schooling! One thing I have learnt this week whilst home schooling my own children is, be kind to yourself, it’s hard work! You are doing an extraordinary job in extraordinary times. If they have managed to complete some work each day, well done! Be pleased with that and take each day as it comes!

Student tracking: we are due to send you the most recent data tracking. Due to the situation we have extended the deadline for staff to input their data so you will not receive the reports until the first week back after the Easter break. Apologies for this but I am sure you understand the circumstances that the staff are working under and we want to make sure the data you receive is accurate.

Year 11 and 13 data tracking: we are expecting our guidance from the Government soon, possibly this week. When we are informed of the procedures we need to follow we will write to you. Until we know those procedures we will not be releasing any grades. Again, it is really important that we give you accurate information so I thank you in advance for your patience.

Year 8 Options: thank you to those of you that have completed the online application. The deadline is 3rd April. Please contact Miss Gray at agray2@bulmershe.wokingham.sch.uk or Mr Grewal at mgrewal@bulmershe.wokingham.sch.uk if you have any queries. After the 3rd April we will be in touch with you to inform you of the next steps in the process.

The Care Provision for critical workers in school is running well, last week we had between 4-11 students each day, I imagine these numbers may increase as we move through this difficult time. Strict social distancing guidelines are in place and our fantastic staff are volunteering for the different sessions. We are in direct communication with the families affected.

Scams: unfortunately there are a number of scams that are being shared across social media/text (see below). Please do not respond to such requests. The school or the Department for Education would never request any details this way.

The virus itself is currently impacting 30% of our overall staff however we still have no confirmed cases. We are working with all of our community to ensure that we are here to support as much as we can. The NHS have a good link , Every Mind Matters. https://www.nhs.uk/oneyou/every-mind-matters/ to support with wellbeing. Please get in contact with us if there is anything you feel we can do to help.

Remember we are still a community, albeit virtual so contact us if you need any support. I’ll contact you next Monday unless our situation changes.

Stay safe and take care,

Amanda Woodfin
