Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you had a good weekend.

As I said on Friday, we are working through the Governments Reopening guidance and I will send you a draft of our plan next Monday. What’s important here is that schools are able to choose the configuration that works best for them. And there’s no perfect solution. We are lucky as a school as we have various entrances we can use, we have two areas that students can purchase food from and we are a large campus. One of the aspects of the guidance that is most problematic, is around transport to and from school. The government recognises the challenges involved in this and has set up a dedicated group of people to continue working on this over the next few weeks so we will wait and see if further guidance is given. The Government is also asking schools to consider whether they could stagger start and finish times to reduce the number of pupils arriving together. Again, this is an area that we are looking into. Overall, it is very important that we are sensible and pragmatic to find the best solution for our community. We will though, all be back, full weeks (no rotas), full timetable, full subjects and in full uniform. Please start having those conversations now and let us know if you need any support.

As a school we are all doing our best to ensure that every student gets an opportunity to come onto site before the end of term. The provision continues as follows:

  • This week year 10’s are receiving sessions from Maths. Their provision will be option based next week.  Year 10 parents will be sent a timetable in the next few days.
  • Year 12’s continue to receive their subjects as per the last two weeks, their timetable is just being repeated until the end of term.
  • Targeted Year 7,8 and 9 are continuing to receive wellbeing and September Ready sessions on site for the remaining weeks.
  • Students in years 7,8 and 9 that have not been invited in for any in-school sessions are being offered a 15 minute Wellbeing and September Ready meeting, on site, booked via the Parents Evening App. Here is the link for the message that was sent to parents on Friday:?http://www.thebulmersheschool.com/NewsArticle.aspx?NewsID=4908.

Thank you to those of you that have already signed up.

  • Year 11 are being offered transition into sixth form sessions. These begin towards the end of this week. Students are coming onto site in small groups.  These sessions are supplementary to the Transition work that has been completed remotely.

See below a message form Mr Bradbury….
