Chinese teachers are a hit with year 7

In the run up to the half term break, The Bulmershe School was visited by 8 teachers from China. They were visiting the school as part of their International Professional Development course with the International Study and Language Institute at Reading University.

As a partnership school with the University Bulmershe hosts teachers up to three times a year. As well as giving the visiting teachers an insight into teaching practices in a British secondary school it is a great opportunity to give our students the chance to learn a little about Chinese culture and way of life.

Our visitors always come prepared to deliver interesting and fun lessons and last week one half of our year 7 learned all about the fascinating and colourful Chinese festivals and traditional cermonies, had a go at some paper cutting and making decorative knots, tried their hands at using chopsticks and got their feet moving with a bit of Tai Chi!

Thank you to our visitors for their hard work and enthusiasm - it was a great end to a very successful first half term for our new year 7s. The other half of the year group won't miss out either - in March we welcome another group of Chinese teachers!
