The year 8 boys football team are through to the fourth round of the national cup after a thrilling win over Tring School from Hertfordshire. On a cold and wet day the boys started very slowly with their opponents hitting the bar early on. The boys continued to struggle to keep hold of the ball and it was no surprise when they took the lead. This lead was doubled when they scored from a corner. However, the boys fought back and a flowing move saw Ethan Sawyer hammer the ball into the top corner to make it 2-1 at half time.

The second half begun with Tring extending the lead to 3-1 but back came the boys again and some great work from Daniel Yeboah saw Jamie Hutchings head in at the far post. The boys were then level when Raman Chadda took a free kick from inside his own half and put it into a dangerous area. The ball skipped off the wet surface, over the keepers head and into the goal. The boys really had the upper hand now but could not get that decisive goal.

In extra time both Louis Hutchings and Yeboah had chances to score but ultimately it would come down to penalties. Jacob Ainscough saved the first Tring penalty and Orn Andresson scored but Chadda hit the bar with his and Tring scored to level 1-1 after two penalties. Tring then missed another penalty before Ryan Scott scored. Tring scored the next penalty but so did Christian Smith meaning that if Tring missed their last penalty the boys were through. Ainscough saved the penalty and the boys won 3-2.

The boys showed amazing resilience and determination and are now through to the 4th round of the national cup. The boys find out who they play on Monday lunchtime.
