Subject Leader of Design Technology

Permanent, full time

Salary according to experience, with additional TLR 2.1 (£2,721)

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Bulmershe School for a creative, enthusiastic and inspiring Subject Leader of Design Technology with a forward thinking approach to lead this small, well-resourced department.

We are seeking to appoint a creative and inspirational Subject Leader who has the skills and experience to teach across KS3 and KS4.  The successful candidate will be able to shape the vision for the DT department and grow the number of students taking the subject at GCSE and beyond.

We also aim to broaden the students’ knowledge of Design Technology to allow them to develop practical and theoretical skills in order to solve problems both in two and three dimensions. We look to enable students to then apply this knowledge and understanding in a wider context in society today.

Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO)

Salary: According to experience,MPR/UPR up to £39,406 with TLR 1.2, (£10,264)

Hours: Full time plus inset days

Contract type: Permanent

Start date: September 2019

The Bulmershe School is seeking to appoint a SENCo who shares our belief that every child should achieve excellence.

The Bulmershe School is a good, oversubscribed, inclusive community school for 11 – 19 year olds. Our SEN department has an exceptional reputation in the borough and we are looking for someone to uphold and develop the excellent work done by our previous SENCo.

We are looking for someone who wants to make a mark and lead our school in creating excellence together, someone who can lead and manage SEN, and work in collaboration with our Inclusion Manager.

Our young people deserve the very best so the successful candidate will:

  • Have 3 years or more experience as a qualified teacher
  • Ideally have the National Award for SEN Co-ordination or be working towards achieving it (applicants without the SENCO qualification will be considered - training can be completed once in post but previous experience working with young people with special needs is essential.)
  • Have thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • The ability to lead staff in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEN children
  • Experience of working with pupils with a range of different abilities and needs – SEND, LAC, Pupil Premium, EAL, G & T
  • Ability to monitor data and compile reports on the performance of specific pupils or groups of pupils.
  • The ability to support and overview the work of teaching assistants
  • Good communication skills and an ability to work within a team
  • Good time management and organisational skills and experience of leading/managing other staff
  • The necessary communication skills enabling liaison with parents and a variety of external agencies
