Study Support Leader

Grade 4

£18,070 - £19,430 PRO-RATA

35.66 HOURS – Term time only

8am – 4pm Mon – Thu

8am – 3pm Fri

The Bulmershe School has vacancies for a Study Support Leader whose main role will be to supervise classes in the absence of a teacher and to oversee our Study Support Zone (school library). The post also includes participation in examination invigilation, accompanying staff on school trips and administrative support in Departments.

The cover supervision element of the role does not include teaching, rather instructing students as appropriate using work left by the teacher.

The Study Zone element of the role includes the joint management, development and promotion of the Study Support Zone to support the whole school drive to promote literacy and wider reading.

GCSE Maths and English, at least to a Grade C or above are essential. The successful candidate needs to be someone who is well-organised, self confident, has a lively personality and can employ good common sense. This post is ideal preparation for anyone considering teaching as a career, since we provide on the job instruction and observation as part of the full training package.

The school will consider part time hours for suitable candidates.


Inclusion Team Member

The Bulmershe School has a vacancy for an inclusion worker whose main role will be to supervise students in need of social, emotional and behavioural support. The post also includes working in close cooperation with departments, leaders in school and outside agencies to help students achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will be based in the schools Ivory centre which is committed to the inclusion of all students. The centre offers a range of behavioural and emotional support to students across the school. It is also home to First aid and student safeguarding.

The successful candidate needs to be someone who is well-organised, self-confident, flexible in their thinking and highly motivated. This post is ideal for anyone who has previous experience working with children of secondary school age or has a passion for the welfare of young people.

A Finance Officer is required from January 2018 to undertake duties including: 

  • Liaising with suppliers, raising and following-up outstanding purchase orders.
  • Checking invoices, making payments and preparing cheque/BACs payments.
  • Completing bank reconciliations for IMPREST and Private Fund accounts and banking income.
  • Administration and reconciliation of purchases made using the school’s e-Procurement Card monthly.
  • Collation of staff overtime sheets and staff absences for authorisation.
  • Processing of Payroll using Selima
  • Processing of non payroll related transactions to FMS.
  • Month end reconciliation between WISER and FMS.
  • Working with the School Business Manager to procure resources for the whole school, ensuring that best value is obtained on all orders and that efficiency savings are made where ever possible.         
  • Any other financial transactions identified.
  • Working with the School Business Manager in relation to recruitment processes, providing HR administrative support.
  • Supporting Wokingham Borough Council audit procedures and Schools Financial Value Standards.
  • Managing Mini Bus use and compliance.
  • Managing school lettings
  • Manage the school shop
  • To undertake any other duties that fall reasonably within this roll.

Knowledge of FMS and SIMS is desirable, and experience in MS Excel is essential.

ICT Network Manager

Full time – 37 hours/week; 52 weeks

Grade 7 (£27,668 to £30,785)

Start date: January 2018

An ICT Network manager is required from January 2018 to undertake duties including:

  • To manage and provide an ICT technical support and advice service to administrative and curriculum areas as required across the school.
  • To manage the performance and monitor all ICT resources and perform advanced diagnosis and resolution of network infrastructure, software and hardware faults (including peripherals and web servers).
  • To actively manage the support contracts/service level agreements for IT, network infrastructure, telephony and printing facility to ensure efficient and effective performance and deployment of appropriate support services.
  • To lead on and develop the system recovery processes to minimise the risk and impact of a serious disaster and threats to continuity (including management of the appropriate back up regime and virus protection).
  • To continually test and evaluate continuity management systems effectiveness.
  • To be responsible for strategic business and financial planning to ensure that the ICT service meets the School’s strategic vision and needs, including accountability for the ICT budget in conjunction with the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership team.
  • To ensure best value is achieved with all hardware and software purchases.
  • To identify, lead, manage and support the development of new ICT systems, networks, equipment and applications for the school to ensure the curricular and management needs of the school will continually be met. To develop and maintain a three and/or five year ICT development plan for the school for approval by the Senior Leadership team and governors.
  • To maintain an inventory of all hardware, software licences, network cabling and telephony resources and a register of all borrowed equipment. To undertake an annual check of this inventory and to report on the results of this check to the Senior Leadership team. To ensure the school is appropriately insured for this equipment.
  • To maintain a log of all hardware, cabling, telephony and software faults and to use this information to support the programme of in-service training for staff and to follow up with manufacturers and suppliers issues associated with their products. To provide an annual report on technical support to the Senior Leadership team.
  • To participate fully in the schools performance management process. To demonstrate a commitment to continuous development, identify opportunities for professional development undertake training opportunities where appropriate. To keep abreast of developments in the field of ICT and undertake research as appropriate. To advise the Senior Leadership Team on emerging technologies and their applicability to the school.
  • Oversee the development of the school information management systems (SIMS), and Library Systems (Oliver).
  • Oversee internet access and usage across the school
  • To support staff and students using computers and to help them to resolve difficulties.
  • To keep up-to-date with trends in hardware and software and to support and advise SLT on technical matters.
  • To be able to write and advise on the working of simple programmes to assist with learning.
  • To be able to assist with training sessions for staff in such areas as electronic whiteboard use and protocol, (MIS and web-portals).
  • Manage and maintain school financial system (FMS).
  • Manage access to ICT systems for staff, students, governors and parents
  • Manage the VoIP (3CX) telephone system
  • Manage internet content filtering policies using Smoothwall
  • Monthly maintenance of all projectors
  • School wide support for all IWB’s, audio, television and video equipment.
  • Liaise with independent contractors to obtain quotes and oversee implementation of required ICT related work
  • Attend Management meetings as required
  • To lead on the development, support and maintenance of the school web site.
  • To line manage the ICT Technician.
  • To perform such other tasks as may reasonably be required by the Head Teacher or Senior Leadership Team
