A Level Results press release August 2019

The Bulmershe School Year 13 students celebrated outstanding successes in today’s A-level and BTEC results, marking the best ever A-Level results achieved in the history of the school.

Congratulations! We are absolutely delighted with these results. They reflect just how hard students and staff have worked to ensure that excellent outcomes were achieved. The standard of teaching and learning in our Sixth Form is truly impressive and the results of our students is equivalent to the progress of similar students in the top 25% of schools and Colleges.  Amazing!

Students in Year 13 achieved 22% of A level grades at A*-A and 47% at A*-B.
Our Level 3 BTEC outcomes graded at: Distinction - Distinction* were 23%, Distinction* -Merit were 72%.
Our overall pass rate for all courses was 99%.

These figures are truly fantastic, well done to all involved! We are very proud of all our students, but some individuals have really shone this year:
Susan – 4 A*’s in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics. Susan is going on to read Engineering at Cambridge University.
Joel -  3 A *s in Media Studies, Maths and Physics. Joel is going on to read Mechanical Engineering at The University of Southampton
Amber – 2 A*s in Chemistry and Biology and 1 A in Physics. Amber is going on to read Medicine at the University of Nottingham
Erin – 1 A* in Geography and 2 A’s in Psychology and Biology. Erin is going on to read Anthropology at The University of Bristol
Imogen – 3 A’s in Drama, English Literature and Media. Imogen is going on to read Drama at Portsmouth University. 
Victoria  -  3 A’s in Chemistry, Maths and Physics.  Victoria is going on to read Biomedical Engineering at The Imperial College, London
Jasmine  – 3 A’s in EPQ, English Literature, Media and 1 B in Biology. Jasmine is going on to read Film, Television and Digital Production at The Royal Holloway University, London.
Jessica - 2 A’s in Photography and Psychology and 1 B in Sociology.  Jess is going on to read Psychology at The University of Surrey
Alexandru – 2 A*’s in Chemistry and Maths and 1 A in Physics. Alexandru is going on to read Computing Science at The University of Glasgow.
Ella – 1 A* in EPQ, 2 A’s in Psychology and Biology and 1 B in English Language and Literature. Ella is going on to read Psychology at Queen Mary University, London
Harjinder -gained a Distinction * in Travel and Tourism and Merits in Business Studies and ICT and is going on to read Business with Industrial Experience at Exeter University.
Chenthuran - gained Distinction * in Travel and Tourism, a Merit in Applied Science and a C grade in Media Studies and is going on to read Applied Biosciences at Coventry University

Our Drama students need a special mention this year. Their academic standard and talent has meant that they are all reading drama or acting in September.
- Ajani – Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
- Richard – Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts
- Nico – Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance
- Lauren – BRICTT – Brighton Institute for Contemporary Theatre Training –deferring for a year.
- Dom – Salford University.
There were especially good performances from a whole range of subjects, for example 50% of Further Mathematics, Fine Art and Physics A level grades were awarded the top A*/A grade.  78% of Business, 75% of Drama and 67% of Geography grades achieved A*-B.  In BTEC, Travel and Tourism and Child Care 100% of the groups received a Distinction or Distinction *.
Well done to all our leavers. A great year and one for us to build on! We wish you the very best of luck for your very bright futures ahead.
