Why did I choose to come to The Bulmershe School?

From my very first visit of the School, I felt a very positive feeling about the school environment and the community as a whole. The teachers were incredibly warm and welcoming and the support was outstanding. I felt inspired and motivated by the amazing extra-curricular opportunities and the enthusiasm of the other students. Attending The Bulmershe School felt like the right choice for me.

Which lessons do I enjoy most and why?

Although all the subjects at Bulmershe are taught meticulously, I most enjoy Art as I have always had a passion for the subject and I enjoy the way our GCSE lessons are taught. We are given the independence to express ourselves and experiment whilst still given excellent support and wisdom from our Art teachers. Overall, students are encouraged to be diligent and persevere in class in every subject, making lessons enjoyable.

Was it easy to settle in and make new friends when I arrived?

Although starting a new school is never easy, the students and teachers at The Bulmershe School were very welcoming and making friends soon became easy. By attending after school clubs, I made friends with other students who shared similar interests and the school environment was very relaxed, allowing myself and other students to settle quickly.

What extra-curricular activities have I taken part in?

I have taken part in a few of the many sports clubs The Bulmershe School offers, such as Badminton and Netball, which I have been able to compete in inter-school tournaments for - including a Netball PGL weekend away. In addition to this, I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to complete my Bronze and Silver DofE and hopefully Gold, which I plan to do in Sixth Form.

What is my most memorable moment at Bulmershe so far?

It is so incredibly hard to pick out the best moments because every single one will bring a smile to my face. If I had to pinpoint one of my best memories at Bulmershe so far, It would be playing the lead role of Matilda in our school production of Matilda. I had never been in a school production before and the support from staff and my peers was truly amazing.

What advice would I give to a student joining year 7?

To any students joining Year 7, don't be afraid to try something new. Ask questions and be inquisitive in lessons - try to get involved with clubs you find interesting and you'll quickly make friends who are similar to you and share common interests. Although starting secondary school is a daunting and sometimes anxious time, remember that everyone is in the same boat and your teachers, peers and older students are always there to help!
