Leadership and Challenge

In Year 9, to enrich students’ education, there is a leadership and challenge pathway where students are given the opportunity to gain life skills or qualifications.

Our Leadership and Challenge courses run in year 9 only, and while they are not part of GCSEs, they do offer students a taste of what choosing subjects entails and some can offer a qualification at the end of the year. All subjects are then timetabled for 1 period a week.

Courses on offer:

  • Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award*
  • Google Workspace Passport
  • Rookie Lifeguard
  • Photography
  • Media Studies
  • Sports Leaders
  • Textiles

*incurs a parent contribution of £190 (support available for eligible students)

Combined Cadets Forces (CCF)

The CCF provides a unique opportunity to promote a practical interest in the Royal Air Force, while developing valuable life skills. Through activities such as first aid, navigation, leadership and drill, students will gain training useful for both service and civilian life. The CCF offers a host of specialist activities, courses and camps, encouraging a spirit of adventure and developing qualities of leadership and good citizenship. This exciting programme will be a fantastic addition to our school, offering students an unparalleled chance to challenge themselves and grow.

The Bulmershe School have been granted permission to open a Combined Cadet Force from September 2026.
