Lead Practitioner - STEM

Full Time

32.5 hour per week

The Bulmershe School are looking to employ an enthusiastic and talented Lead Practitioner of STEM. Our ideal candidate will have experience teaching any STEM subject with a proven record of excellent standards. Candidates wishing to apply should have a passion for their subject and the ability to teach to GCSE and Advanced level.  The chosen candidate will lead on the strategic direction of STEM across school, actively promoting the value and importance of a comprehensive STEM programme of study while engaging with local organisations within industry.

All of The Bulmershe School’s STEM Departments provide a high standard of teaching across the disciplines. Our teaching staff are supported by a dedicated and experienced team of technicians and LSAs, and all departments have regular opportunities to share best practice and undertake development training.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach your subject to KS4 and KS5 students
  • Develop and implement policies for STEM, in-line with our school’s commitment to high-quality teaching and learning
  • Promote careers education through STEM and ensure that teaching and learning illustrates how the subject might lead to career opportunities
  • Promote STEM, its importance, and the value that it brings across the school
  • Develop a strategic vision for the delivery of STEM across school
  • Establish an effective team and hold regular meetings to keep staff informed on any developments or changes
  • Audit, check and manage resources to ensure they are up-to-date and match pupil and curriculum needs

The Ideal Candidate should

  • have teaching experience of a STEM subject
  • have an awareness of local and national organisations that can provide support with delivering the subject
  • have a commitment to getting the best outcomes for all pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school
  • have experience in leading a team
