The Bulmershe School are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of English and Performing Arts. Our ideal candidate would have a Drama/Dance specialism and should be passionate about delivering the best possible English and Performing Arts curriculum to our students in order to raise their aspirations and attainment.

Performing Arts at The Bulmershe School is strong, with excellent Key Stage 3 provision and high performance at GCSE. As part of our Communication and Performing Arts Faculty, you will become part of team with genuine passion and vision, who are working together to provide students with exceptional experiences, from whole school productions to trips and professional workshops. The Bulmershe CAP-Arts Faculty’s mantra is “Changing Lives Through Shared Experiences.” We believe that The Arts have the power to bond, shape and nourish us, no matter who we are, where we come from or what we believe. As a Faculty, we endeavour to provide our students with experiences and memories that will stay with them forever, as well as shape them on their learning journeys.

This role is flexible, and lessons will be moulded around your specialism. For Dance specialists there would be potential to develop the role as our long term aim is to develop Key Stage 3 and expand our KS4 and 5 Performing Arts offer to include Dance in the coming years. Experience in teaching at secondary level would be highly desirable and would be considered a valuable attribute. Due to the supportive culture at The Bulmershe School, this post is suitable for an Early Career Teacher or someone who is looking to gain valuable experience in a supportive and diverse school.

Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Teach Dance and/or Drama and English at KS3.
  • Support after school clubs and activities within the Faculty
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the needs of diverse learners
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Support and mentor students in their artistic development
  • Promote performing arts, its importance, and the value that it brings across the school
  • Be responsible and accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct
  • Treat students with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher’s professional position
  • Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school
