Remote Learning Guidance
The Bulmershe School Remote Learning Guide.
This guide is designed to support our community when students are unable to attend lessons.
We use Google classroom for placing classwork and live lessons. See the Google Classroom guide here . General guides can also be found online.
We encourage our teaching team to supplement their work with curriculum sequenced lessons from the National Academy www.thenational.academy. These have been specifically designed to provide high quality remote lessons that match our students' curriculum and may well be used when teachers are unable to deliver a live lesson.
Where possible students may be invited to the live lesson using Google meets, see here for guidance.
What you will need at home?
In order to access this provision it is important that your child has a quiet space to work and a device that can support Google classroom and internet connection. We understand the challenges of maintaining these so please contact us if you need our support.
What we expect from your child
It is important that your child engages with home learning and keeps to their timetable. If they aren’t engaging with their learning, let us know.
What you can do to help
Our experience together so far suggests that when the need for remote learning arises it presents challenges for all concerned. We kindly ask for your continued support so that we can provide high quality education for your child during this time. We appreciate that you cannot watch your child all day, and we don’t expect parents/carers to get involved in remote lessons. However, it would be really helpful if you can take an active role in your child’s learning by asking them about their day and what work they have done.
Some top tips shared in our community so far have been:
- Try and encourage your child to be ready and dressed for the start of the school day and to keep to their timetable
- Encourage your child to follow the breaks in the timetable and finish at the end of the school day. We will not be expecting homework from remote learners.
The current school timetable can be found on your SIMS App or on the school website
Above all, please let us know if you have issues accessing the work; we are here to help.
Students with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP) and those on the SEN register
We recognise that some students and those with special educational needs will find remote learning a challenge. Members of the learning support department (Oasis) are available to support your child as much as they are able. If you have any questions or queries regarding provision please contact our SENCO: Frances Childs - firstname.lastname@example.org
Please report any disclosures to school via the safeguarding form on the school website or call the school as you would normally.
