Why did you choose to come to The Bulmershe School?

Moving to a new country was overwhelming because everything was completely unfamiliar, so when I first arrived, I just trusted my parents and went to the school they chose for me. I expected to feel like an outsider, but the school was so welcoming that I quickly felt at home. Teachers were patient and helped me figure things out, and classmates included me right away, sitting with me at lunch and working with me during lessons. No one ever made me feel weird or different for being new; instead, they asked about my home country and made me feel like I mattered. My tutor also checked in on me often to make sure I was doing well. When I was later given the chance to change schools, I didn't even want to leave. I chose to stay because Bulmershe had already become a place where I truly belonged.

How has The Bulmershe School inspired you to strive for your aspirations and dreams?  

On top of making me feel welcomed, Bulmershe helped me figure out my future aspirations. Being in a place where teachers believed in me helped me realise how much I love 3D design and building things. This sparked my dream to become an architect so I can make a positive impact on people's lives through my buildings. I decided to take 3D Design for my A-Levels, and got real work experience at an architecture firm. Working in a real business showed me how buildings are actually made and made me realise that architecture is about creating spaces that help communities. Overall, the school gave me the confidence to chase my big dreams and use architecture to make the world a better place.

How do you feel the co-curricular (extra-curricular clubs, trips, opportunities) experience at The Bulmershe School has benefited you? 

Taking part in extra activities at The Bulmershe School helped me grow so much as a person. Playing in netball matches taught me how to work well in a team and trust my friends. Going on the Bushcraft camping trip was a fun adventure that taught me basic survival skills, like building shelter, and made me much more independent. Taking part in the school productions really built my confidence over the years, helping me get over my shyness and speak up without fear. All these clubs and trips gave me great memories and strong life skills that go way beyond the classroom.

What would you say is your favourite moment so far in your time at The Bulmershe School? 

My favorite moment at The Bulmershe School was in Year 10, when I was given the opportunity to lead a Black History Month assembly alongside the Year 12 students. Delivering a speech in front of such a large audience was a true testament to how much the school had built my confidence since I first arrived as a new student. It meant so much to speak openly about a topic that was deeply personal to me, and knowing that my teachers truly believed I was capable of taking on such a big responsibility gave me the courage to stand up, share my voice, and inspire others.

What is your favourite subject and why?  

My favourite subject at The Bulmershe School is 3D design, which I first took for my GCSEs. The course was filled with moments of overwhelming stress and long hours of hard work, but because I enjoyed the subject so much, I found the resilience to keep pushing forward. That passion helped me persevere through every challenge and ultimately achieve an outstanding grade at the end. Loving what I was creating made all the effort worth it, and that success gave me the drive to take 3D design even further by choosing it for my A-Levels.

What advice would you give to a student about to join The Bulmershe School? 

If I could give advice to someone joining Bulmershe, it would be to try new things and not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Joining a new school can feel scary, but the teachers and students are very kind and ready to help you. Get involved in extra activities; like playing sports, going on trips, or joining school plays, because they help you make friends and feel more confident. Most of all, work hard at what you love and don't give up, because this school will always support you.
