Why did you choose to come to The Bulmershe School?

In year 6 when I went to look around all the schools in the local area I immediately knew Bulmershe was the school I wanted to go to. I loved the massive variety of sporting facilities that the school offered and the wide range of extra curricular opportunities that were available. As someone who enjoys being involved in different activities, I could see that Bulmershe would allow me to explore my interests and make the most of my time at school. However, what stood out the most to me was the welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community Bulmershe had.

How has The Bulmershe School inspired you to strive for your aspirations and dreams?  

Having such a brilliant network of teachers around me has given me the confidence to pursue my goals. All my teachers at Bulmershe have always been so supportive and given me all the resources and lots of encouragement so that I have been able to aim high. The teachers all put in a lot of time to ensure the lessons are always engaging and everyone understands the work. 

How do you feel the co-curricular (extra-curricular clubs, trips, opportunities) experience at The Bulmershe School has benefited you? 

Throughout my 6 years at Bulmershe I have participated in many sports fixtures and played in a variety of sports teams such as rounders, swimming, football and netball. Being involved in these opportunities has helped me develop teamwork and leadership skills and also allowed me to meet some of my best friends. I also feel the drama opportunities at Bulmershe are outstanding and have allowed me to build my confidence massively. 

What would you say is your favourite moment so far in your time at The Bulmershe School? 

I really enjoyed the netball residential in year 11 where I was able to spend a weekend with my friends playing netball and creating memories. This trip was particularly enjoyable as it gave us time to spend time together as a team outside our normal training and matches. It provided me with lots of moments that I will look back on fondly. 

What is your favourite subject and why?  

I love all 3 of my A level choices ( PE, Drama and Media Studies) and my favourite subject alters daily! I am really enjoying Media Studies at the moment as we are in the process of making our coursework pieces where I made a music video, magazine and tour poster for a local band. I have found the whole creative process really enjoyable and have loved being able to experiment with professional video and editing software at school.  

What advice would you give to a student about to join The Bulmershe School? 

My advice would be to never be afraid to ask for help. The teachers at Bulmershe are all so friendly, approachable and genuinely care about their students. The teachers put a lot of effort into making lessons engaging and helping everyone reach their potential, whether that means offering extra support or helping you challenge yourself. I would also advise you to take advantage of the many opportunities available. These opportunities allow you to develop new skills on top of the ones you learn in the classroom. They help you grow not only academically but also as a person, preparing you for life beyond school.
