A Day of Sport and Community
Sports Day 2025 took place under a very hot sun, one of the warmest days of the year. Despite the heat, our students and staff showed real determination, making it a busy and active day for everyone involved.
Students arrived ready for a full day of events. Years 9 and 10 headed to the back field for track competitions, with plenty of encouragement from friends and staff as runners competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m and relay races. Over on the main pitches, Years 7 and 8 were involved in team sports such as netball and football, and also had the chance to try out field events like shot put, javelin and long jump for the first time.
It was a hot day, and everyone welcomed a break at 10am to refill water bottles and cool down under the sails before heading back for the next set of events. Even with the challenging temperatures, the positive atmosphere continued. We saw many examples of students helping out, sometimes stepping in to boost numbers for tutor groups, even if it meant competing against their own team, and always offering encouragement to others. The main aims for the day were clear: to enjoy being active, celebrate sport and represent tutor groups with pride.
Sports Day is always a chance for our school community to come together, and this year was no exception. Students and staff worked together, supporting each other throughout the day. Whether taking part or cheering from the sidelines, everyone contributed to the day's success. On the track, pupils showed determination in their races. In the field, they arrived on time and put in effort. In team events like football, netball and tug of war, we saw good sportsmanship and respect, regardless of the result. While ensuring everyone had a chance to take part, there was still plenty of competition as forms aimed for the Sports Day Champions title.
Here are some of the results for our year groups:
- In Year 10, Mrs. Nath and Mrs. Gill’s YL form took the top spot.
- In Year 9, Mr. Hird’s XB form won, making it their third year in a row!
A big thank you goes to the PE department for organising the day so well and keeping spirits up, ensuring students had the chance to enjoy a day of sport, competition and teamwork. We also want to thank all students and staff for their positive attitude, resilience and teamwork. It was a day to be proud of. We look forward to next year's Sports Day!
