At The Bulmershe School, we believe the arts are a vital part of our school community, helping students develop confidence, creativity and a sense of belonging. This year’s Summer Showcase was a perfect example of what makes Bulmershe special.

On Tuesday 8 July, we welcomed families, students and members of our local community to enjoy an evening where students took the lead, sharing and performing their creative work across dance, drama, music, media and art.

A School Alive with Art and Creativity

Our B-Block was transformed into a gallery for the evening, with GCSE and A-level art, 3D design and photography proudly on display. The work included striking sculptures, beautifully designed lamps and high-quality portfolios, showcasing the hard work and imagination of our students. It was inspiring to see families exploring the gallery, celebrating their children’s achievements while younger students looked ahead to the exciting opportunities available at GCSE and beyond.

Upstairs, our Media department showcased student-created magazines and DVD covers. This was not only a celebration of our students’ creativity but also a brilliant chance for younger students to see the high standards they can aspire to when they select these subjects for their own study.

Dance, Drama and Music: A Celebration of Talent

The canteen was alive with energy as our Dance students performed solos, duets and group pieces across a range of styles, from K-pop and Bollywood to musical theatre. The talent on display highlighted just how much our new Head of Dance has achieved this year, and it was clear from the smiles and enthusiasm that our students love the opportunities dance provides.

In the Drama studio, audiences watched recordings of students’ devised pieces, demonstrating their ability to create, collaborate and perform with confidence. Meanwhile, the auditorium became a space for musical celebration, with students performing solos, duets and instrumental pieces before the evening closed with the uplifting sounds of the Bulmershe Samba Band.

Bringing Our Community Together

What made the Summer Showcase truly special was the sense of community. Our venues were packed with supportive families and staff, all there to celebrate the hard work and talent of our students. Events like these are a reminder of how The Bulmershe School brings people together, celebrating our young people and the arts in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the CAP-Arts and Creative Arts teams for their hard work in making this event possible, and to the many staff who supported on the night. Most of all, thank you to our incredible students for stepping forward to perform and share their work with pride.

The Bulmershe School is committed to nurturing creativity and talent in every student, providing opportunities for them to shine within a supportive community. If you are considering secondary school options for your child, come and see how we celebrate the arts at Bulmershe and help students develop confidence and creativity for life.

We can’t wait to welcome families back for next year’s Summer Showcase!
