BackReporting Absence - Studybigs
2 Sep 2026Bulmershe are launching a new tool called Studybugs to make reporting your child’s absence due to illness much quicker, simpler and safer for everyone.
Report that your child will be absent
Why We Are Changing Our Process
Studybugs gives you a better way to report when your child is sick and off school. With just a few taps on your phone or clicks on a computer, you can send us all the information we need.
This change helps our school community in two important ways:
- Real-time safety: Studybugs updates our registers automatically, so tutors and teachers can see immediately that your child is safe at home.
- More support for students: It removes manual tasks like listening to long voicemail messages, freeing up our Attendance Team to spend more time working directly with students and supporting families.
Action Needed: How to Register Today
We need all families to set up a free Studybugs account as soon as possible. You can use the app on your phone or use a web browser on a computer.
Step 1: Create your account
- Go to the Studybugs website: https://studybugs.com/about/parents
- Click Sign in and then click Register free! at the bottom of the box.
- Check your email inbox and click the activation link we send you to complete your setup.
Step 2: Add your child
- Once logged in, click the Edit button under your name.
- Add your child or children who attend The Bulmershe School.
How to Report an Absence
- Once registered, you can report an absence in two easy ways whenever your child is unwell:
- Using the Studybugs App: Open the app on your phone, select your child and follow the short prompts.
- Using the School Website: Visit our website, click the Parents menu at the top left of the page, select Studybugs, choose your child and answer the brief questions.
What Happens Next?
We want to give every family plenty of time to get used to the new system: We will share more details and help answer any questions during our year group curriculum evenings over the next half term. We ask all families to start using Studybugs straight away so everyone gets comfortable with it. From ast January 2027 Studybugs will become our only method for reporting student absences.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we make this change to improve our communication and keep our students safe.
