Student Leadership at The Bulmershe School
Back
At The Bulmershe School, leadership is more than a title - it's an opportunity for students to step up, shape their community and develop skills that last a lifetime. Across every year group, we provide pathways for students to take on responsibility, grow in confidence and make a real impact.
This term, our student leaders have demonstrated exactly why we place so much value on these roles. From Year 9 Peer Mentors and Sixth Form Ambassadors to Sports Leaders and Head Students, our young people continue to impress with their resilience, organisation and kindness.
During this week’s Year 6 Transition Day, 40 Peer Mentors from Year 9 supported 255 primary students as they experienced a full day at Bulmershe. Our Peer Mentors helped with everything from welcome briefings and room changes to games and pastoral support. Their presence was vital in helping our newest students feel welcome, calm and confident.
Our Sports Leaders have been just as busy, heading out to support local primary school sports days and tournaments. Staff from partner schools have praised our students for their professionalism, positivity and ability to support younger pupils. Their presence helps these events run more smoothly and creates a wonderful connection between our school and the wider community.
Meanwhile, preparations are under way to select our next Head Student team - one of the most prestigious student leadership roles at Bulmershe! These students represent the voice of their peers, speak at public events, lead Student Council meetings and act as ambassadors for the school. Interviews take place next week, and we look forward to hearing from the Year 12s who have put themselves forward.
A huge thank you to this year’s outgoing Head Students: Amrit, Angus, Isla, Leilani, Oliver and Ruby [pictured]. They have led with care, energy and commitment, and we wish them every success in the future.
Beyond these high-profile roles, students can also get involved in leadership as Library Assistants, Geo Leaders, Form Representatives and subject ambassadors. Each role offers a chance to contribute, to learn and to develop a sense of responsibility.
We are proud to offer such a wide range of leadership opportunities. It’s a key part of our commitment to developing well-rounded, independent and self-assured individuals, ready to succeed not just in school, but in life beyond it.
