The Bulmershe School are looking to employ a well-qualified and enthusiastic colleague to join our Modern Foreign Languages [MFL] department.  This is an excellent opportunity for an inspirational and dynamic teacher, who is ideally able to teach French up to KS5 and/or Spanish up to KS3. The post is suitable for experienced teachers, however, due to the supportive culture at The Bulmershe, this post may be suitable for a newly qualified teacher who feels they are ready to take on the challenge.

The MFL Faculty prides itself on its strong commitment to students both academically and in becoming well-rounded global citizens. Throughout the year students are inspired to become intellectually independent through the subscribed curriculum and extra-curricular trips, events and celebrations. The Faculty’s success is evident in the continued improvement of GCSE results and interest in A-Level courses.

Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Teach AQA French or Spanish GCSE
  • Teach to the French and/or Spanish National Curriculum in years 7-9
  • Pro-active lesson planning and marking
  • Responsible for the learning and achievement of all students in your classes, ensuring equality of opportunity for all
  • Responsible and accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct
  • Treat students with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher’s professional position
  • Work proactively and effectively in collaboration and partnership with learners, parents/carers, governors, other staff and external agencies in the best interests of students
  • Act within the statutory frameworks, which set out professional duties and responsibilities and in line with the duties outlined in the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document and Teacher Standards 
  • Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school

The Ideal Candidate should

  • have experience of teaching French or Spanish, although preferably both
  • be an inspirational and student-centred teacher who has high expectations of all learners
  • be able to motivate students of all levels and abilities to achieve their aspirations
  • be a team player
  • be energetic with a self-assured attitude
  • be confident and keen for career progression
  • be committed to the happiness and wellbeing of everyone at the school

Person Specification

  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience of/ interest in organising and leading trips abroad is desirable
