Looking for a secondary school that blends classroom learning with unforgettable experiences? At The Bulmershe School, we believe that education should be exciting and our Year 7 students recently got a taste of real-world learning that was packed with fun on a unique trip to Thorpe Park!

This was no ordinary day out. Our students explored the high-speed, high-tech world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) careers during an innovative, full-day event held right at the theme park.

From Classroom to Coaster: Learning by Doing

At Bulmershe, we try to actively show students how the skills they learn in Science, Design, Maths, and more are essential to some of the world's coolest jobs.

Thorpe Park made sure the day was a perfect balance of education and excitement. Students didn't just get to enjoy the rides...they earned them! To unlock access to the rollercoasters, our Year 7s had to successfully complete a series of engaging STEAM challenges and educational activities focused on various career pathways. This hands-on, gamified approach ensured they were actively learning while having an absolute blast.

Meet the Professionals: A World of Career Possibilities

The event brought together around 10,000 students and over 60 companies and organisations, all focused on inspiring the next generation. Our students had the chance to meet and speak with professionals from major companies like Barclays, Microsoft, Surrey Police and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. With half of the UK's engineering and technology businesses currently facing recruitment challenges, events like this are crucial. They directly support our aim to open up possibilities and help our students become the STEAM leaders of tomorrow.

Outstanding Opportunities Start Here

In total, over 60 universities, charities, and organisations hosted educational activities, allowing our students to dive deep into potential careers. Whether they were interested in the physics of a loop-the-loop, the programming behind a ride simulator, or the mathematics of queue management, every student found something to spark their interest.

It was a memorable day that our students loved, perfectly balancing deep, career-focused learning with plenty of theme park fun. A huge thank you to Mrs. Sahin for making such an outstanding and inspiring trip possible!

If you are a prospective parent and want your child to attend a secondary school where extra-curricular learning is as fun as it is educational, The Bulmershe School is the place to be.
