Bulmershe Festive Fun Run
Back
This week, our students took part in the annual Bulmershe Festive Fun Run. This event is now in its third year and has become a favourite way to end the autumn term. It is a 2km run that encourages everyone to get active, have a laugh and collect donations for a good cause.
Making Exercise Fun
We know that a 2km cross-country run on a cold December morning can be a challenge. To make it more enjoyable, our PE department encourages students to run in fancy dress. It was great to see so many pupils arriving for their lessons in Christmas jumpers, Santa hats and even full costumes.
The variety of outfits this year was brilliant. We saw elves, gingerbread men, Santas and even some Christmas chickens and aliens running across the field. Seeing a student in a giant chicken suit running through the mud certainly made everyone smile and helped the students keep going.
A Run for Everyone
At The Bulmershe School, we want every student to feel they can take part in PE. We try to create a culture where everyone feels welcome, regardless of how fast they can run.
The Fun Run is designed so that everyone can join in at their own pace. Some of our students chose to race and recorded very fast times. Many others chose to jog or walk with their friends, enjoying the festive music and the fresh air. By putting a fun spin on the activity, we saw a huge number of students taking part with big smiles on their faces.
Supporting Our Local Community
The event is also a chance for us to help others. This year, we asked students to bring in donations for the Woodley Foodbank.
Our community is always very generous and we were pleased to see so many students bringing in bags of food and essential items. These donations will go to local families who might need a bit of extra help during the winter months. It was a lovely way for our students to show kindness and think of others.
Thank You
This event is successful because of the hard work of our PE team and the support of our families. We would like to thank Mr Hird and the PE department for their work in organising these activities over the last three years. Mr Hird's efforts have helped make PE a fun and positive place for all our students.
We also want to thank the parents and carers for helping with costumes and for sending in foodbank donations. It really was a great way to finish the term together.
