We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our successful SEND team and thriving school. The Bulmershe School is a heavily oversubscribed school which sits at the heart of the community. We are a mixed local authority, 11-18 school of approximately 1400 students, who come from diverse backgrounds and cultures. We work closely with our parents, partners and feeder school to achieve the best outcomes for all of our students. We were rated as ‘Good’ in our last OFSTED report and are aiming for Outstanding.
The role entails working with students with a range of SEND needs to close the gap in attainment in literacy. The successful applicant will be self- motivated, able to take responsibility for small groups of learners ensuring that progress in literacy is tracked and recorded. We are aiming to improve student’s grades at GCSE, to improve reading and comprehension of reading.
Alongside supporting SEND students in a range of classroom settings, the successful applicant will be confident in delivering small group literacy interventions from years 7 – 11 inclusive. The successful applicant will take responsibility for creating resources, delivering interventions and recording student progress by delivering a range of recognised tests.
The SEND department has its own base with fantastic facilities which afford a superb environment in which to work and learn. We are a friendly and supportive team of 15 staff within the department who have a wealth of experience. With an ever changing world, we continue to learn and adapt in order to support our students. For example, in the current pandemic we supported students remotely using Google Meets and other platforms. Therefore a candidate with strong IT skills or a willingness to learn is essential.
Applications will be considered upon receipt. Closing date for applications is 3pm on 29th May 2021 (CVs will not be accepted).
