Why did you choose to come to The Bulmershe School?
When I was applying to different schools Bulmershe really stood out because of its prominent support and diversity. When I had a tour around the school with the Head of Year I appreciated the outstanding environment and the selections of options offered; meeting inspiring peers here and dedicated staff members meant that I have never regretted my choice!
How has The Bulmershe School inspired you to strive for your aspirations and dreams?
Observing the commitment every day I was inspired to try hard for my passions and use every single opportunity. The school has shaped many of my interests and provided enough support to realise my potential; for me it was the opportunity to incorporate my interests in Economics, Maths and Chemistry into my studies and determine that I wanted to pursuit Economics further. The amount of help and guidance provided when choosing your destinations and applying to university or apprenticeships is incredible and ensures a well-informed choice and an organised transition into further education for everyone.
How do you feel the co-curricular (extra-curricular clubs, trips, opportunities) experience at The Bulmershe School has benefited you?
During my time at Bulmershe I have had a selection of fantastic trips, such as to the Royal Albert Hall with the Music department, that enriched my school life and broadened my horizons. Taking part in the Bulmershe choir was an incredible experience to develop new skills, participate in school events and just have some nice time with nice people! The school also offers different sports clubs and often organises department trips to benefit everyone and introduce as many new experiences as possible.
What would you say is your favourite moment so far in your time at The Bulmershe School?
I would probably say that one of my favourite moments at school was opening the envelope with my GCSE results - seeing the awaited result of my everyday work was an amazing feeling and I am grateful to the school for supporting me during my academic journey and providing all the resources and opportunities to succeed. But ultimately every day at school is filled with fantastic moments and memories of seeing my friends, acquiring new knowledge and exchanging opinions!
What is your favourite subject and why?
Since my first day at school I was always thinking that my favourite subject was Maths - and it was, but up until Year 11, when I developed a true passion for Chemistry. It is an incredible subject that dives deeply into explaining how everything works and interacts on a molecular level and I really enjoy when I start understanding the mechanism behind some completely natural everyday things because of the chemistry knowledge I acquire in lessons.
What advice would you give to a student about to join The Bulmershe School?
Don’t be afraid! The school is very welcoming and supportive so you are not going to have any academic or socialising problems. Be curious and try to find something you are really passionate about - and the staff are here to help you with this. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes - you are here to learn and not just to show off the knowledge you already have. And remember that everyone here is willing to help as much as you are willing to learn!
