Following the extremely sad news regarding the proposed closure of St Joseph’s College, everyone at The Bulmershe School would like to extend our thoughts and sympathy to all the pupils, parents and staff affected. We understand that this announcement brings a sudden period of uncertainty and anxiety for many local families who now find themselves having to make urgent decisions about their children's continuing education.

We have received a substantial amount of enquiries from families and so this page hopes to offer some guidance for joining our school. We want to do everything we can to offer clarity and support to those who are navigating their next steps. While we would love to welcome every child, we must be transparent about our current capacity so that families can plan effectively.

Admissions for Years 7 to 11

Please be aware that we are an oversubscribed school and whilst this means we cannot offer immediate placement, we are happy to guide you through the in-year application process:

• Year 6 transitioning to Year 7 (September 2026 entry): If you had previously applied to St Joseph's College and now wish to be considered for a place at Bulmershe, you will need to contact your local Council directly to complete a late application.
• Current pupils in Years 7 to 10: Families seeking an in-year transfer must complete our In-Year Admissions application form. This form, along with details of our admissions policy, can be accessed directly on our admissions webpage.

Sixth Form Opportunities

Unlike our main school year groups, our Sixth Form currently has capacity to welcome new students. We are keen to help Year 11 pupils looking to secure a vibrant and supportive destination for their Year 12 A-level studies this September.

Additionally, we can offer places to current Year 12 students who need to transfer mid-programme to finish their A-levels.

When emailing, please include:

• Your full contact details 
• The specific A-level subjects your child wishes to study
• For current Year 12 transfers, the specific exam boards they are currently studying under

Our transition team will review these details as quickly as possible to ensure subject compatibility and facilitate a smooth transition.
